Our History

During the early part of 1990, while still with Campco, John Britz started trading in oil pollution control products. In 1997 we started trading under a new name and then in 2001 finally formed the business Oil Spill Control.

During the last 15 years we have sold many forms of absorbent material including Zorbit, Drizit, PeatSorb, Supersorb and other brands. These products come packaged as loose material, in cushions, booms, sox and as pads and rolls. We have also sold absorbent materials for dealing with chemical and acid spills.

A full range of spill kits was introduced together with spill control training.

A spill clean up service was introduced in the early part of 1992 and over the years we have dealt with many spills of various types, such as road tanker accidents, rail accidents, marine accidents as well as factory accidents.

Some of the larger spills we have been involved with include:

  • Spill of over a million litres from a train derailment

  • Spill of over a million litres from a sunken ship

  • Spill of over 700 thousand litres from a pipe burst

  • Many spills of more than 40 thousand litres from road tanker accidents

  • Spills of inks, paints and other solvents

  • Heavy furnace oil spills on land and in the sea

All these spills were completed with good results and the site of the spill remediated back to its original state.
